A hotel on Cargador beach
The Hotel Jeremías was built in the Las Fuentes area, right on the seafront of Cargador beach (Carregador), Alcocéber's main beach. Its name is less well known than its look: a Mediterranean-style building with a white façade and arches, a garden of palm trees and a swimming pool that opened out towards the sea. The beach's name has a story of its own: according to tradition, it dates from the time when King Peter the Ceremonious gave permission for fruit to be loaded onto ships along this coast.

The aerial photograph from the mid-2000s shows its prime position: the hotel in the foreground, the pine woods and the long stretch of Cargador beach behind it, and the Sierra de Irta closing off the horizon.
The three-star years
In its best-remembered era, the Jeremías was a three-star hotel with around 40 rooms, most with a terrace, air conditioning, telephone, television and en-suite bathroom. It offered a buffet restaurant, café, bar, gardens, pool, car park and entertainment in high season. The photographs from its website of the time, reproduced here, show the café, the gardens and the pool just as its guests knew them.
Its facilities were renovated in its last major refurbishment, in the nineties. In 2006 it described itself as a select beachfront hotel, 800 metres from the village centre and very close to the marina.

From the Jeremías to Alcossebre Sea Experience
After it closed, the building was completely rebuilt. In 2019 Alcossebre Sea Experience opened: 90 one- and two-bedroom apartments over five floors, swimming pools, a rooftop skybar with views over the Mediterranean, and a spa. It is the natural continuation of the Jeremías: the same plot, the same beach and the same family business behind it.

Anyone looking for the Hotel Jeremías today will find it like this, under a different name and in a different category, but in the same corner of Cargador beach. To see what it is like now, take a look at information about the hotel today.
